History

Minnesota Model was born in the United States , about 50 years ago in the State of Minnesota , becoming to appear in several countries with a huge success. Thanks to the high taxes of recuperation that it can attain, it can even be considered one of the better Models to the treatment of chemistry dependence.

This treatment's model has begun to be used by Dr. Nelson Bradley, in the psychiatry's service of the Wilmer's state hospital, in Minnesota . In the decade of 60, the Hazelden's foundation has improved he model and extended the ambit of it's application, including other drugs besides alcohol. They ranked the philosophy of the self – help movement from AA (12 steps) with humanistic psychotherapy, about the changes in behaviour and psychotherapy based in the confrontation with reality.

It's possible to evaluate the value of this model saying that the other models reveal 20 to 30% of being successful. Minnesota 's model, for those who finished their treatment, offers 65 to 85% of recovery's tax, with a “follow up”, after 2 years from living the clinic, in any of the countries where it was used.
