Intervention of Family

In the present days, alcoholism and drug addiction are two of our country’s major social and health problems. This condition creates constant fear, anxiety and despair. This has a deep effect not only on the individual but also in people who regularly maintain contact with him, such as family, friends, work colleagues and bosses. Once the process begins, it is extremely difficult for the alcoholic/ drug addicted to stop it and it is the beginning of destroying everything until then was important to him.

Unfortunately, the alcoholic/ drug addicted rarely see his habits as dangerous and destructive, not only for him but also for people around him, namely those who love him.

Thus, it is of the relative or someone close and concerned about the patient the decision to seek for professional help.  The alternative consists on encouraging the alcohol/ drug addicted to seek for professional help when he goes through a moment of crisis. In this case family members are in a unique position to help. There is no doubt that the lack of initiative will result in a progressive worsening of his condition.
